I have no model for this. Although it is clearly of the Personal Websites genre, it doesn't fit very well into any of the main categories you see on the Net today. It's completely situational, based on an event unfolding over a number of months in 1998. The process had a clear Beginning, in mid-January, when Maia left for college and my job ended at Adams Media. Selling and Packing fit right in the Middle. And we'll reach The End of this story when Joan and I look at each other sometime down the road and say, "We're Here ..." Then I'll close down the site or at least change it into something else. Before that happens, I'd like to capture the story -- reflect on it, annotate it -- and somehow encourage my friends and acquaintances to comment on the commentary. |
